MIA training Blog ....

just thougt i'd try his and see if i can keep it up all week - may not have connectivity
just have to wait and see.

travelled up late last night, Thursday leaving York way too late 7:07 and despite getting lost in the roadworks on the A80 and going shopping in tescos for jungle juice I pulled over onto perfect flat bivi spot just before 1am, 300 miles worse off. Above Balir Atholl on approach to walk I intended, i set up my bivi in 2mins and lay down under a cloudless star filled sky to spot the shooting stars of the Perseids and fun they were, very bright one every few mins. Knackered I struggled to get to sleep, annoyingly, and my bivi set up was not ideal, the alpkit hunka not being big enough to accommodate a full length thermarest. Awoken but bright sunshine and blue skys at 6am I moved into the shade as a car drove by or an early start on he walk. Begrudginly i got up as i was still tired but the sunshine helped , as did a pint of tea.

Walking by 8.30 the 3 munroes Cairn Liath et al passed in a mix of showers, wind and sunshine and 5 hours and about 20 mins, steady quick pace but no running or long stops. As i had ages before i could check in at Glenmore Lodge and i was still tired, i had a huge mug of tea some sarnies and a kip beside the car in hot sunshine, requiring covering up to avoid being burnt!

pretty uneventful check in to my palatial room, and plugged every charge i had with me in, and resurrected this old laptop and eventually gor unpacked, showered and sorted.

A great start to the course, hope im not too shagged out and achey tommorrow at 7.30 -yuk
